The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, advocate, thought partner, and all-around advisor. This team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. We partner with Snap team members on a wide array of matters, including privacy, product, IP, commercial transactions, corporate governance, employment, acquisitions, litigation, and policy, and social impact. We’re looking for an experienced policy leader to helm Snap’s Platform Policy team. As Head of Platform Policy, you will be responsible for ensuring that our policies for content and products remain best in class, and ensuring that operational teams have the guidance needed to implement these policies in a way that’s consistent, scalable, and equitable. Content moderation is one of the most visible issues in tech policy today -- you will be an expert on the global regulatory landscape, and build the framework and roadmaps to meet, and exceed, our regulatory requirements across the company, while ensuring that Snap’s policies map to our values. You will manage complex issues between developing enforceable global policies, translating to internal teams the latest policy reform efforts, and managing cross-functional projects. This role will work closely with our Trust and Safety, Product, and Platform Integrity teams on everything from policy creation, content moderation, safety strategy and reviewing new features and products.

What you’ll do:

Possess a strong understanding of internal operational and product functions to support the policy requirements for new and existing content formats and product featuresManage a team of professionals dedicated to supporting Snap’s policy ecosystemLead cross-functionally to ensure that all current and future regulatory requirements are being adequately prepared for and executed upon within necessary time frames Monitor trends related to online content platforms, digital advertising, the creator economy, and technology generallyLead research for developing new policies and understanding emerging policy risks Work closely with the Platform Integrity, Trust and Safety, and Product teams to collaborate on safety solutions and strategiesSupport Snap’s compliance with relevant platform accountability regulations, including the Digital Services Act, Online Safety Act, and e-Safety regulations in jurisdictions around the worldManage and support resolution of high-sensitivity content escalations and crisis incidentsCollaborate with the Public Policy team to gain a strong understanding of the present and forward looking regulatory landscape, and to share your strategic perspectiveDevelop and iterate on content policies to ensure regulatory preparedness and mitigate business riskWork closely with global teams to ensure effective operationalization of global policies

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to execute on complex projects with a variety of stakeholders and a proven track record of managing complexity between subject matter, types of projects, and responsibilitiesKnowledge of digital advertising practices and brand safety issuesExcellent communication skills, strong decision-making skills and sound political judgmentKnowledge of legal and regulatory trends impacting content moderation and product policies globallyLeadership skills, including experience managing high-performing teamsAbility to work with business teams to identify pertinent issues important to the business and orient the public policy team to meet prioritiesAbility to work independently/ self-starter in a fast-paced, multicultural, and rapidly changing environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in law, policy, or other relevant field. Advanced degree preferred. 12+ years relevant experienceStrong experience of working at the intersection of operations, policy, and law

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $244,000-$366,000 annually.

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $232,000-$348,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $208,000-$311,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
